Why can’t I see myself on Google?

Perhaps one of the most frequent questions they ask us is why I don’t appear on the first pages of Google? Why if I put the keywords I don’t see myself? Or because my clients are looking for me, they can’t find me?

The answer is simple, it is because of SEO

So what is SEO?

SEO is for its acronym in English (Search Engine Optimized) Search Engine Optimized System, that is, it is that system that allows search engines to find an answer to your question; In other words, when you enter Google, and you put «Red Balls», you expect «red balls» to come out and not «yellow cubes», of course, this is easier to say and understand than to do, for this Google has generated robots or spiders who are in charge of searching the immense sea of the Internet for all those answers that may be related to your search, that is why we must do a series of actions and steps that allow your product or service to be found by Google when someone else is looking for it.

But… why don't I appear first? Or Why am I not appearing on the first sheet if I did the steps?

Well, for this there is also an answer, think that there are thousands of people who are offering the same as you, and they have also tried to do things in the best way, have seen the tutorials on YouTube and have even downloaded the plugins that allow them improve SEO and among all of them you enter to compete and only those who do things in the best way will be the ones who achieve that victory.

We have all heard at some point that we must generate keywords, that we must create content, that we must be regular, that we must include social networks, that we must be careful not to use copyrighted images, etc. But no matter how hard we try, we cannot do everything they tell us, and that is why there are agencies in charge of doing these processes for you.

Think about this, imagine that at this time of a pandemic due to the very boring SARS Covid-19, an internist had to open the clinic, then mop the floor, collect the used sheets, wash them, use the disinfectant for this, then go receive the patient, triage him, fill out the information, go to the drugstore for supplies and medications, put him in a wheelchair, take him to the right place, give him the medicine, take his temperature, intubate him and then go back to the door and do the whole process, because the patients would not achieve it, for this there is a team of people in whom each one fulfills a function, we could put the same example with a soccer team where the goalkeeper should cover the shots, go to the others players, score the goals and not neglect the goal, in neither case is it possible to do everything alone and everything well.

So what should I do to start in the first positions?

The first thing, if you are starting in this magical world of digital marketing and SEO, is to understand that this is a process, nobody gets to the top positions overnight and even less free.

  1. Check that your site is well done, that is, that it has a structure that allows navigation
    • Each page must have a title that describes the topic it deals with and that works as a permanent link, Example: www.yoursite.com/web-positioning
    • Simple content oriented to your client, with clear and simple information, this is where the Meta description (SERP) comes from, these do not influence SEO, but they do improve the final appearance during the search, and it is very important at this point that you generate Call To Action (Calls to action), that is to say «call us», «Visit us», «Get to know us», etc., for this you will have 155 characters.
    • Related graphic material, take care that these images are free of copyright, that they are not too heavy (on the internet you do not need images that weigh too much 2500 x 1500 is more than enough.
    • If you want your site to look professional and that when sharing the links your logo can be seen, use a favicon, it is the image that is seen in the search engine bar next to the title of your site.

Undoubtedly one of the best plugins for SEO management, it works very well in the free version, it allows integrating Google Analytics and Google Search Console, but the Pro version has many more utilities, such as the rating of each link, publication or link .

Another very functional plugin in both the free version and the Pro version, has the advantage that it can also be downloaded directly from the WordPress panel, which makes it an excellent option with the previous one.

This is a relatively new plugin when compared to Yoast or All In One SEO, but it has achieved great popularity, it also has free and premium version.

8. Create links within your own site, when you have relevant content in other sections, generate those links, that way you will have a more solid navigation map.

9. Integrate your site with social networks, one of the elements that give ranking in SEO are the accesses to your site by referring url, that is, if I see a publication on Facebook and I click on a link, and it takes me to your page, it gives you points, the same if it comes from another referred website.

10. Take your site to other web pages of interest, specialized directories, magazines etc.

11. Use metric tools, remember that what is not measured, is not controlled, for this Google has created tools that will facilitate this work, such as:

    • Google Analytics, With this tool you will be able to measure the traffic of your site, from where you have been visited, keywords, reference sites, etc.
    • Google Search Console, This tool formerly known as “Google Webmaster Tools” will help you optimize your site, report errors on your site, broken links, etc. And see what the status of your site is on Google.
    • Google Tag manager It allows you to update your website or application quickly and easily
    • PageSpeed Insigths This tool allows you to measure the loading speed of your site, in reference to desktop devices, tablets and mobiles

12. And finally, but perhaps the most important, remember that this is a process and requires time, you must persist in your attempt to position your site in the best locations, if you publish, make sure they are regular, update your site at least once a week, check the publication dates and check your numbers.
